The Journey Thus FarWe have been meeting for church at Canyonland’s Fellowship for over six months now and working at planting our church as a public ministry in the heart of our community. God has been faithful. First, he has given us time, time to organize, time to plan and time to prepare for the journey ahead. For a small group of thirty or so believers this has proven to be a huge blessing. Second, he has given us His people. Our core is comprised of many long term church goers who understand how to “be the church” and have a commitment to the ministries of the church and reaching the lost. Because of these experienced saints, we will be able to plant our new church quicker than the average church plant. Equally important is the combination of both time and people. Since we come from varied backgrounds, I sense God has used this time to help us acclimate to one another which I believe will help us move into our future. Paul spoke to a similar church planting group as he wrote to the church of Philippi. “Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” (Phil 2:1-2) God has patiently placed us together at this time and in this place for the single purpose of planting His church – and it is exciting to consider the limitless possibilities that this represents. Each one of us has a gift to be used and a calling to serve in the planting and continuation of this work. Considering our various backgrounds and experiences, I sense the He can and will orchestrate for us a perfect concerto of grace and promise. |
I share this with you at this time, because the enemy is real and he has his eye upon us. We represent to him, the last thing in this world that he wants to see: A body of faithful, obedient, evangelistic saints who are hungry to see their God move is mighty fashion in Moab, Utah. So, if the enemy has gotten into your head or down right in your face – REJOICE! It’s because he wants to stop you and your fellow church goers from “being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose” – the planting of a new work where the newness of life rises up in the Salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
