Our Community Values
TRUTH We live in a time and day where the present generations are looking for a Truth they can trust. As God’s people, we have been entrusted with His absolute Truth and we must unwaveringly and authentically claim it, teach it and live it. We seek to be a people that is built up and founded on the infallible word of God.
LOVE In our command to Love God and our neighbors it is our desire to show our love for God through an obedient lifestyle and Biblical world view. That is to say, that we truly desire to be salt of the earth and light of the world in our Jerusalem. We also desire to show God’s love through sacrificial living meeting needs in our church, community and abroad. (Phil 2:3-4 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.)
TRUST We believe that trust occurs at the intersection of unwavering resolve and compelling humility. We believe that trust is the key to strong spiritual leadership thus it is with Christ-like integrity that our leadership strives to establish trust at all levels of our Church community. (Matt 20:26-28 whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”)
ACCOUNTABILITY We desire to be a community where interdependency thrives – a community that recognizes the gifts of others and the importance of each one doing their part. We desire to covenant with our church family as a means of spurning one another on in word and deed. (Rom 12:4-6 For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly)
COMMUNITY We seek to be a community when gathered around His table all generations and all people groups gather together – everyone from the highchair to the wheel chair is present. (1 Cor. 11:33) One that is family centered, understanding the importance of all the generations participating in the work of Gospel and the service of the church. (1 Thess 2:8 We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.)
LEGACY We desire to build a Christian heritage in our Jerusalem and in turn pass this heritage from one generation to the next. We seek to equip parents to train their families with Christ being the central figure of the home and where parents rise up as the spiritual leaders God has created them to be. (Duet. 6) We believe that the spiritual strength of our society stems from the spiritual condition of the family and marriage. We forge ourselves in the development and strengthening of these institutions and see this as imperative to the accomplishment of the Great Commission and Great Commission.
RELEVANCY Society changes over time and it is our responsibility to identify with these changes and to adapt ministry and evangelism as we proclaim the Gospel in Our Jerusalem. We are willing to use, create, and choose methods God has place at our disposal in our ministry context to reach the lost with an unchanging and uncompromised message of Truth and Grace. (1 Cor 9:22-23 I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel that I may share in its blessings.)
MATURING As a church we believe that we are in the disciple making business. It is our desire to see people continually grow in their relationship with God and mature through the study of His word and through healthy relationships among His people. (John 5:8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples)
GENUINE: We desire to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ living out authentic relationships with God and His people. This transparent life style is seen by unbelievers as our sincere service to God and to our neighbors. ( Rom 12:1-2)
Our Association & Affiliation
Our Jerusalem desires to reach the diverse cultures in our area and to be contemporary, relevant and missional in our practice. We are associated with the Gideon Association, Utah-Idaho Sothern Baptist Convention and the Sothern Baptist Convention. Our desire is to be Biblically solid in our theology upholding all aspects of our statement of faith. We desire to lead our associate churches in the planting and multiplying of new work and to help strengthen and increase the spiritual health of our existing associate churches.
PRAYER: We believe that in order to move people we must be able to move God and to move God, we must be a people of prayer. Prayer defines our relationship with the living God and is the means by which we experience a powerful relationship with Him. We recognize the immense need to have this new work bathed in prayer by those on the ground in Moab and those abroad who are willing to commit to a prayer partnership with Our Jerusalem. We need individuals who are willing to pray with us and for us. We need church partners that are willing to corporately pray for our new work. We need God’s people who are willing to pray for our specific and special needs. Our prayer list will be posted on-line at our Website, Facebook, and our monthly newsletter.
TEAMS: We are seeking ministry teams that believe in our mission and purpose in the heart of Our Jerusalem and would work alongside of us throughout the year. You may have or know of a ministry team that would be willing to help in a particular ministry area. (VBS, Youth Summer Missionaries, Mission Mobilization Leaders, Resort Ministries, Marriage & Family Ministry Conferences, Men’s Ministry Training, Special Main Street Pulpit opportunities)
RESOURCES: As we begin this new work, our initial ministry launch needs include: Mobile equipment, trailer, chairs, Church in a Box, VBS supplies, Tents, booths & Awnings for outdoor events in our community, Web site development, Facebook account set up, Technical training for social network communications, electronic equipment for services – speakers, channel board, microphones, lap top, projector and screen. Helping us meet these needs is a great way to start a ministry partnership with Our Jerusalem.
